Knowing God

How Can I Know God?

In a world filled with questions about purpose, meaning, and the divine, many seek to know God—to understand His nature, His will, and His love. Yet, the path to truly knowing God is not found in abstract philosophies or fleeting spiritual experiences. It is found in a personal, transformative relationship with Jesus Christ, the infinite God-man who laid down His life for humanity’s redemption and rose again, proving the promise of eternal life through faith in Him.

The Unique Revelation of Jesus Christ

The Bible declares, “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God” (John 1:1). Jesus, the Word made flesh, is not merely a prophet or a wise teacher; He is God incarnate, fully divine and fully human. This profound mystery sets Him apart from any other figure in history. Through Jesus, God entered the human experience, bridging the infinite gap between a holy Creator and a fallen creation. To know Jesus is to encounter the very heart of God—His compassion, His justice, and His sacrificial love.

No other path offers such a direct revelation of God. Philosophies may speculate about the divine, and other faiths may point to aspects of God’s character, but only in Jesus do we see God’s nature fully revealed. As Colossians 1:15 states, Jesus is “the image of the invisible God.” To know Him is to know the Father, for Jesus Himself said, “I and the Father are one” (John 10:30).

The Cross: God’s Love in Action

The heart of knowing God lies in understanding the cross, where Jesus laid down His life for the redemption of humanity. Sin had separated us from God, creating a chasm no human effort could bridge. Yet, in His infinite love, Jesus—the sinless God-man—took upon Himself the penalty for our sins. “For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life” (John 3:16). The cross is not just an event; it is the ultimate demonstration of God’s character—His mercy, His justice, and His relentless desire to restore us to Himself.

To know God through Jesus is to grasp this sacrificial love. It is to see that God did not remain distant, but entered our brokenness, bearing our pain and shame. This act invites us into a relationship, not based on our own merit, but on His grace. By faith in Jesus, we are reconciled to God, adopted as His children, and invited into intimate communion with Him.

The Resurrection: The Promise of Eternal Life

The resurrection of Jesus is the cornerstone of our faith and the evidence that knowing God through Him leads to eternal life. The empty tomb is not a myth or a metaphor; it is the historical reality that validates Jesus’ claims. He declared, “I am the resurrection and the life. The one who believes in me will live, even though they die” (John 11:25). His victory over death proves that He is the infinite God-man, with power over sin and the grave.

Through faith in the risen Christ, we are offered more than just knowledge about God—we are given the promise of eternal life with Him. This is not a vague hope, but a certainty grounded in the historical fact of the resurrection. To know Jesus is to trust in His triumph, to experience the new life He offers, and to walk in the assurance of a future where we will see God face to face.

A Relationship, Not a Religion

Knowing God through Jesus is not about adhering to a set of rules or rituals; it is about entering a living relationship. Jesus invites us to come to Him, to abide in Him, and to experience the love of the Father through Him. “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me” (John 14:6). This exclusive claim is not born of arrogance, but of necessity—only the infinite God-man could pay the infinite price for our sins and open the way to God.

In this relationship, we encounter God’s presence through prayer, His guidance through Scripture, and His transformation through the Holy Spirit. We grow to know Him not as a distant deity, but as a loving Father who walks with us through every moment of life.

The Call to Faith

If you long to know God—to truly understand His heart and experience His presence—look to Jesus. He is not a historical figure to be studied from afar, but a living Savior who invites you into a relationship. His life, death, and resurrection reveal the depth of God’s love and the certainty of His promises. By placing your faith in Him, you step into the embrace of the Father, discovering the purpose, peace, and eternal hope that come from knowing God.

Will you take that step today? Jesus stands ready to meet you, offering not just answers, but a relationship that transforms your life now and forever.
